HR 3200 BILL (Health Care Bill)

We spoke of this bill and were uncertain if we had a copy of the most current.
After contacting Charile Melancon's office once again, we were directed to the Energy Commerce website & was assured this is the most updated bill. We have added a link to the bill on our website.

We addressed all in attendance asking for volunteers to sign up and help read a portion of the proposed Health Care Bill. Our goal is if we get enough volunteers we can divide up into groups & assign a number of pages for each group to read. The groups would then meet among each other to discuss their interpretation. Once all have finished, we could then present this at our next meeting. Thus having collectively, as a whole, read the entire bill At this time we have 5 volunteers and are in need of more. Please respond to this email if you are interested in volunteering.

Other Meeting Highlights:

Pocket Constitutions were handed out......if you don't have one......GET ONE! This is something we should all familiarize ourselves with in order to "fight a good fight" for our rights.

Several of our Committee Leaders spoke on what their goals are and urging members to volunteer & get involved.

Donations collected at meeting totaled $552.00

Also, AARP was brought to attention at the meeting & their stance on being in favor of this Health Care Bill. A member in attendance shared with us two other organizations to check out.
ASA (American Seniors Association)
60 Plus Association www.60plus.org
We have not checked into either of these organizations and leave this to do on an individual basis.

Achievements:
As of today, we are set to have a table at Nichollos "Welcome Back" for students, so our membership committee will be out there getting the word out and getting our community involved.

Contacting our Elected Officials:
Some of our members have asked for contact information to our elected officials. This will be available on our website no later than tomorrow. Please contact your Representative and tell them your views!

Possible Upcoming Event (though we sure hope not)
* If the HR 3200 Bill passes we will need to act quickly rallying together for a demonstration to let our representatives know where we stand.

Together we can move mountains.... and that's what we intend to do.
